The impact event we held this autumn had been several months in the making. I realised we were approaching our 4th anniversary of IS Accountancy, and wanted to do something special to celebrate this feat. So, I started thinking about putting on an event of some kind where I could provide a greater insight into ‘why we do what we do’ and to celebrate with some of the most important people, my clients and connections. And create an opportunity to meet the rest of the team, who do so much of the work we do for you and may not always get the recognition for everything they do.

Serendipitously, I received an email from Paul Dunn, B1G1 Co-founder, saying he was visiting the UK this October and had an opportunity to create a special LIVE event together with us as one of their select business partners.

I jumped at the chance and here we are now.

What does it mean to transform your business for good?

Is the world a better place because your business is in it?

My longest standing client relationships date back more than 30 years and it was finally, during 2020 that I decided to set up my own accountancy practice with a small team supporting me, so I could really do what I wanted to do and make a difference.

Making a difference meant doing business the way I’d always yearned to do, which in many ways I was already doing, but now I was able to implement it in every detail, process, and level. It was about building everything around relationships; seeing, valuing, understanding and respecting. I believe that the many long-standing relationships are a poignant measure that I must be doing something right! Trust and loyalty mean so much to me.

Enriching lives at every level and touch point of our business

Getting to that stage, was amazing, however it wasn’t quite enough. Which is where B1G1 (Buy1Give1) comes in. Founded by Masami Sato and Paul Dunn, it was their belief that every business has the power to make a significant difference in the world. An idea that resonated loudly with me. I could run my business and make giving an inherent part of everything we do.

Sharing this with my team, we came across projects that we innately wanted to support, via B1G1, that could make such a positive difference in others lives and for our planet. In a nutshell, every time you ‘Buy’ from us, we ‘Give’ to a range of impact projects both in far off lands as well as closer to home. To date we have made more than 20,000 impacts (and counting!)
